Born in South Buffalo to an Iron Worker father and stay at home mother, Michael dedicated the first thirty years of his professional career to public service as both a prosecutor and Counsel to two State Supreme Court Justices. As an Assistant District Attorney, Michael investigated and tried cases involving capital homicide, gang violence, narcotics trafficking, sex offenses, and Driving While Intoxicated violations; including any ensuing appellate litigation. He also served as the District Attorney’s Counsel to the Buffalo Police Department,  a lecturer at the Central Police Services Training Academy,  and a speaker at the Buffalo Public Schools’ “Stop DWI” and “Career Day” programs. As Supreme Court Counsel, Michael mediated hundreds of settlements on a variety of civil matters, including Labor Law, motor vehicle, and Civil Rights actions. 

In 2009 Michael was a member of the Erie County Legislature’s ” 21^st Century Commission” and the lead author of the Commission’s report recommending the Legislature’s downsizing. While in law school, he coached football at his alma mater, St. Joseph’s Collegiate Institute, and later served on the school’s Board of Alumni Directors. He has also coached little league football and basketball. Michael is a 1989 graduate of the University of Rochester, where he played football, and earned his Juris Doctorate from the University of Akron School of Law in 1993. He and his wife Kathleen have three children and live in Buffalo, where they are parishioners at St. Anthony of Padua Church. Recalling his father’s two falls as an Iron Worker, Michael’s practice focuses on Labor Law sections 240 and 241 matters; construction site, automobile, and premises accidents, and general negligence disputes.
