The New York State no-fault law requires that no-fault applications be provided to the insurance company within 30 days of the motor vehicle accident. There are some exceptions to this rule. One common misconception is that the no-fault application must be completed and mailed in within that 30-day period. In fact, the insurance company must receive the application within 30 days. This sometimes presents an interesting dilemma, as we need to have the no-fault application mailed to and received by the company prior to the 30-day expiration date.
