Physical therapy is extremely important for injuries sustained in accidents. Physical therapy comes in two different times – before surgical intervention and post-surgical.
This is specifically referring to the extremities (shoulders, arms, knees, ankles, hips). Physical therapists will engage in a process of strengthening the musculature in the affected areas and increasing range of motion, so the body will continue to heal, and assist in increasing the strength / mobility in the affected areas.
People will have physical therapy in order to attempt to not have surgery, and people oftentimes will go for multiple regimens of physical therapy so that surgical intervention is unnecessary. Physical therapy is not successful after surgery is engaged, the physical therapist will then step in and apply appropriate therapy in order to assist a person in recovering from that surgery.
